3 Days of Fund Raising Campaign

May 8, 2015

I was observing few tweets, few status that were stating ‘It is easy to say, but difficult to work’, pinching those Nepalese who don’t reside in Nepal. I can only try to understand how it feels to be the real victim.
I can imagine how it feels to be part of that massive earthquake. I can only imagine the pain that you people faced during that time while sleeping under open sky, despite having houses. I can only imagine.
But, I don’t fall under that category of people, who stay back infront of my laptop, open few social networking sites and suggest what you should do, what others should do. I don’t fall under that category who blames others. I, along with few of my friends started up the fund raising campaign. After the candle lightning program was over, which was organized by our junior Nepalese, we all planned for fund raising campaign. This was three days of fund raising campaign, that began when our International Classmates started collecting funds and handed us around ten thousand Indian currency.
I must thank my classmates, Tuya and Nara from Mongolia, Ganga from Bhutan, Rima from Bangladesh, Patrick, Otim, Geofrey ad Christopher from Uganda; Candy, Ori, Nenguba, Boniface, Lone from Botswana; Hilma from Nigeria, Chandra and Christine from Guyana;  Devasiline from Laos; Damodaram, Puneeth and Shiva from India who began this fund raising campaign.

Day 2
In the second day, we went to Vellore – City that is famous for CMC Hospital. We tried collecting funds staying in front of VIT, but we were not allowed to stay over there. We then went to CMC Hospital area, where we got one such a good guy from Jain community, who took us to every shops and helped us in fund collection. So, that day, all of the members did a vigil infront of VIT College, and then one group went to Chittoor Street, another did vigil infront of CMC Hospital and other group was under the guidance of Musakan, who helped in such a beautiful manner. We could collect INR 44244 on the second day. We got the highest donor this day, and also a simple request stating not to buy any non veg products with that money.

Day 3
On third day, we woke up early, and rushed in hungry stomach to Krishna Teja College. I could barely create any voice that day, I was dying of hunger. I had not eaten properly since the day of earthquake. I could feel my blood running with low pressure. We were supported by a brother and a sister from Nepal in that college. After visiting this college, we went to Emerald PG College, where the management handed us with great trust. We were handed the money in the stage thereby. We also collected funds from ‘Donation Box’ that was placed in the mart thereby. We got certain amounts from those who were left out. We could collect INR 39700 this day.

These three days we worked with sincerity, showing our patriotism. However, the funds were not limited only up with these figures. They are continuously getting into our donation box. Our college management and SITMS College also supported up the level that they could.
We can’t say that we have finalized amount, because the funds are yet to come, and is in process. Till date we have INR 148503 with us. We believe, every penny is respect towards us. We swear it not to misutilize it, and like we said, we will try to go to those peoples who are the real victims, and if we could not do that, we will donate it to some relief fund.
Thank You everyone for trusting us, supporting us. And for those, who have not donated a pound of blood despite being in Nepal, I think we are not so silent as you think here outside of India either.
