'Why should you care? Why should a Muslim care about our
things anyway?' our driver shouted at us, when we asked about the famous Hindu
temple in Kashmir. We were shocked and surprised.
'We are not Muslim, we are Hindu' we told, despite having long beard with us.
He looked at us with
skeptical eye, and asked rudely 'Why did you come to Sri Nagar then?'
We didn't answer because
we had already been cheated by the previous driver. He was scolding previous
driver saying, 'He is hero in Kashmir, Jammu is mine!'. I then noted, that
Jammu was place for Hindus, Srinagar for Muslims and Leh for Buddhists. I also
understood the reason why Jammu and Kashmir has 'And' in between.
Midnight Trouble
Almost at 12 the driver
further troubled us saying, he would charge extra money to drop us till railway
station. We had no option but to agree, as there were no local buses that would
drop us at railway station at that time. Now, once we were there, we then knew
that next train to Delhi was at 5 am, and then at 9 am. We had to book tickets
for earliest one, to be at Delhi as quick as we could. That was troublesome! We
stayed in the queue of counter being at first from 3 am itself.
Almost missed train!
The counter opened at
5.20 and not in the line that we had been waiting, but the window at corner.
Everyone rushed there, and I was almost at last. Kapil and Rusen managed to get
somewhere in middle, but again, they couldn't make it due to crowd. It was
already 5.45, and we didn't had our tickets. We told others three to be in train
with luggage, and Gaurav to come back showing in which berth they were. But it
was 5.55 and we still didn't had tickets. I rushed into the crowd, and pushed
everyone and got into window. By 5.58 we had tickets in our hand!
We then ran as quick as
we could. Those who were on the train with luggage started throwing them from
slowly moving train. Once they saw us running, they again threw the luggage
inside. Before train took the speed, we got into nearest door. We were into two
different boxes of train. No phone! We were not sure even if our every luggage
were in the train.
Travelling through
General!
You don't know who comes
inside, you have to stay alert about your luggage, anyone may take it. We were
traveling to Delhi after all. Sweats of people were smelling badly. We didn't
feel like eating anything, except our own Bhujiya Chiura, because the entire
place was dusty, and people seemed to be dirty. We only took tea there.
Finally at 6, we reached
Delhi!
