I took Wai Wai soup at Upama and our final journey towards
Leh started. We would see lights in distant place, and assume that it was Leh,
but that would rather end up being something else.
We were traveling through
Armay Training camp, and lot of army places. Someone on internet had posted, traveling directly from Manali to Leh would be too hectic, and that was not at
all a good suggestion, but we dared this. Finally it was around 9:30 PM, we
reached Leh. Everything was dark.

Searching place to sleep
Our driver took us to some dharmashala
type of place in the beginning. This certainly was not too good place to sleep,
we had to sleep at some compartment. We refused, and went to find other place.
It was similar, but now we were looking for same room where all of us would
adjust. This was terrible. It belonged to Nepalese, but we could not stay there
either. It was around 10 already. Our driver took us to hotel line finally, and
we found some good hotels. But, they were really expensive. Expensive two to
three times our budget, we tried searching for some reasonable, when someone
scolded our driver not allowing him to park there.
We finally went to that very first place,
and slept a troublesome night. Beds were dirty, we had our own bed sheet for
situation like this! Someone else was sleeping in our room, whose face we
didn’t see even when we checked out next morning! Ahh!
·Morning busy knowing information
We had to do few things in the morning.
a.
Search some good hotel at reasonable price, so
that we could sleep this night better.
b.
Find the cheapest and easiest way to travel to
Sri Nagar.
c.
Find cheapest and easiest way to be at Pangong
lake.
That certainly was bunch of stuffs
to do. Shiva and Susant had already been out, and I went out as well. We tried
asking few jeeps how much would they take for Sri Nagar, and they were really
too high. We tried seeking information about hotel, but they were too
expensive. And finally we found a driver, who understood Nepali to some extent.
His name was
Dorje.

Small Monastry |
No Internet! No Phone! Oh!!
We were already having tough time, without
communication. Susant had to talk to his home every day, and it had been more
than 24 hours our phones were dead. No Networks! We could not get access to SIM
cards either. Our driver who brought us to Leh, from Manali had informed that
there was free wifi at Leh. But, we did not find that.
Dorje, however allowed Susant not
just for miscall, but for a phone call from Leh to Nepal. That was expensive.
13 IRS for a minute!

Highest Altitude Ever!
Without even knowing we reached highest
point of our life. All of sudden, our driver stopped at a point, where we could
see few snow. It was while playing snow we figured out that we were at highest
altitude! Only after realizing that we were at 5360 m of height, we started
that we were facing tough time in breathing. Was that psychological effect?

·The Lake
There probably are more beautiful lakes in
Nepal. But, I had not been to this huge and beautiful lake. The colors kept on
changing with movement of sun. I could already see 4 colors there at the lake.
And as our driver told, the lake seen was only 1/3rd portion of
entire lake, the remaining 2/3rd was in China. I certainly don't
want to write more about the lake, because, picture has to speak more than
words. But, let me tell you, because the last scene of 3 idiots was casted from
this place, the lake got further charm. And entire tiny restaurants located
there had names like '3 Idiots Restaurant', 'Wangdu Restaurant' related with
the movie!
Our mission of the tour to insert our legs
within the water of Pangong lake was accomplished!
