Unexplored Raja Rani lake: Get the visceral thrill of being some place new

Jan 9, 2017

As soon as tourists drop down at Tribhuwan International Airport, they will have a simple schedule of either Pokhara or Lumbini. Cases are not only for international tourists, but the similar kind of cases can be noticed for domestic tourists as well. It seems as if only these two are the places of Nepal to be visited.

There are such a huge number of potential places for visiting in Nepal that has remained unexplored. Bhedetar has been a popular destination in Eastern Nepal. Located at top of the hills at 1420m above the sea level, the place has been gaining attention these days. It was after 2038 BS, when the prince of Britain, Charles visited the place; the place has been gaining huge popularity. Charles Tower is the name of tower thereby. Namaste Jharna is the popular destination these days of Eastern Nepal.

The place is limited within local people around. Places around should have gained huge popularity. Namje, a model village that had been enlisted in CNN last year could not make huge attraction either. After gaining such a huge credit, the village should have been the popular destination place for people all around, after all, it has been named as such a village, where one must explore.

Raja Rani Lake is next location that can be travelled after being to Namje. Raja Rani is 21 kilometres from Bhedetar. It is a valley that has historic background with it. It is believed that in ancient times, there were two lakes, Mother Lake and a father lake. There used to live two specific powers thereby that flowed down in 1862. The power shifted to next district, and ever since, these two lakes are as streams thereby.

If it has to be compared, the lake is of the size of somewhat Naintal of India. The reason for not comparing it with Phewa lake is, the size of the lake in Dhankuta is almost less than half of Phewa lake, and something equal to that of Naintal. It is clean, and beautiful. Both the lakes; Nain and here are surrounded by hills around. Both the lake seems still, and lovely. However, Naintal has huge promotion done, and has reached that state, while very few have heard about Raja Rani. If the promotion is done in aggressively, the lake can gain equal credit as that of Phewa Lake.

Tourism in Eastern Nepal has certainly not flourished as it had to be. Destination to Raja Rani can always the best experience for any traveller who loves travelling. Illam is not only the place in East, Raja Rani has showed the new identity as well.

However, there are tasks that have to be carried out by four Special Forces for Raja Rani to kiss the peak of popularity.Raja Rani’s community, Nepal Tourism Board, Media and the individuals living in the country! The very first thing is the community needs to make a firm stand. There are boating facilities shown at this time, however, the boats are in a fragile state. They seem to be out of maintenance, and despite having almost dozen of boats there, only one or two seems to be at working state. This shows the poor state of Raja Rani, and it has to be maintained by the community thereby. Again, the lake has a huge prospectus of getting polluted, if not taken care of.  Whisky bottles around, noodles wrappers in very less quantity around itself show the future, and can be regarded as the indication that it requires a serious care.

Nepal Tourism Board on the other hand, should not be focused simply with Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Conversation Area Project (ACAP), or Pokhara. NTB has to re- think the ways of promotion. There are so many places that require promotion. ‘Destination Dhankuta’; must be brought within the mind of peoples, so that they would at least enlist Dhankuta in their Travelling list. Only when people recognise ‘Dhankuta’; they will keep it in their travelling place. Media is the only way of promotion. Media should not be biased and should research of such unexplored portion of the country as well.

Ultimately, individual has to do a lot with it. It is not always necessary to keep their honeymoon destiny to Pokhara or Chitwan. Raja Rani is not bad either. Again, travelling has been practised by today’s youth as well. You can go there by public bus, hire a vehicle, or on your own bike. For peoples of Kathmandu, Raja Rani can be a real long and exciting Eastern Drive. And, it is high time; people must use word of mouth advertising method to promote domestic tourism in Nepal. Else, Thailand, Bangkok or Malaysia’s scheme would take entire profit of tourism from our country. Every time one travels to a new place, he or she must be able to persuade two other peoples to go and visit there.
