Once again, bars of Thamel or Lakeside will be filled with this
Rock and Roll music, because Berry is dead. It's his body that is no longer in
the earth - but, Berry is legend; and legends never die. Still there are
imaginations going on as Lenon described, and still people smell their teen
spirit as Nirvana mentioned. No! Legends don't die!
The origin of rock and roll, which was all messed up, and
people had no idea what Rock Music actually was. People had been debating back
then, regarding what the music was because there was variety of tracks
available. While jazz and blues were played in equal proportion, there were
country music and mixed blues over it.
It was Chuck Berry who introduced an aggressive guitar sound
to rock and roll. He established the electric guitar as its center piece, and
adopted his rock band instrumentation from the basic blues band instrumentation
of lead guitar, second chord instrument, bass and drums. His role for
technological change in music sector can never be ignored.
Apart form being most important black artist in rock and
roll, he was the one who blended blues, country and witty and give some rock
and roll music. He turned out to be first guitarist singer to reach charts back
then. It was Berry who wrote lyrics relevant and entertaining to his young
white audience.
On observing the musical history - there are legends that
will never be forgotten. Be it Lennon, Dylan, Kobain, Denver or Berry, their
contribution has always been appreciated by the world. It took such a long to
appreciate Dylan, who had such strong lyrics, to be identified as literary
figure. Berry's musical composition should have been identified as beautiful
contribution to literature long time back. It was these eras of 60's when music
was defined, lyrics were explained. It was during this very era performance
along with music was determined. His
duck walk was a signature lesson anyway.
John Lennon himself had explained back then that if there is
another name to be granted for Rock and Roll, it's Chuck Berry. So, Berry's
tracks like Jhonny Be Good, Rock and Roll or Sweet little sixteen music will never be erased from music lovers
mind. They will always remain song to cover up.
Berry teaches the world that any creativity is out of
experiments. Had Berry not tried to blend these different versions of music,
how would he be able to generate rock and roll tracks. Had Dyalan not come up
with those revolutionary wordings, how would someone realize that music has
huge power? Similarly, had Berry not come up with these great contributions,
how would the taste of music be segmented?
The lessons taught by these legendry fellows has to be
lesson throughout the world. No longer will the world follow same old path,
they certainly look something new around. 'Rock n Roll accepted me and paid me,
even though I loved the big bands, I went that way because i wanted a home of
my own. I had a family. I had to raise them. let's not leave out the
economics.' Berry once stated. Honestly, any artists requires fund to live up
his life, but that should be filled with his way to live as well. He did what
he loved, and what he enjoyed - that gave him reason to succeed. Why would he
explain Rock's so good to me. Rock is my child and my grandfather if he was not
in deep love with his work?
Although he had different feelings for Shakesphere, he knew
how to adore people as well. He wold not praise Beatles's yesterday.
Appreciating other's effort is what every individual needs to learn out of him.
Never did he boast about his music, as he used to explain his music was simple
stuff which anybody can sit, look and produce. Who says it these days - praise
doesn't mean anything and they don't judge themselves like Berry in today's
age? Everyone is after praise.
World of humanity, world of celebrities, world of music has
lot of lessons that could be learnt out of his life.
After he told the world, his singing days had passed, his
voices were gone, throat was worn and lungs are going fast - the world had to
realize that he won't be long in the earth. But, since he is a legend, his
absence would be equally precious in musical world. After all, a legend never
dies!
