Hospitality makes the difference

Jul 21, 2014
Hospitality is an integral discipline to tourism. The tourism industry certainly cannot move ahead without hospitality, after all tourism is all concerned with new places and new people. Places hardly show disrespect to any people; it is the people who fail to respect each other.
Traveling may have many objectives. No matter what they are for, leisure, business or recreation purposes, they need to interact and deal with the native people of the region. Hence, the discipline and attitude of the native people actually reflect the tourism scope of any region.

Nepal is generally visited for trekking, mountaineering and sightseeing. Though tourism entrepreneurs build five star hotels and other infrastructures like swimming pools, pool houses, wi-fi regions and so on, hospitality is always ignored to a large extent. Hospitality is friendly, welcoming and generous treatment offered to guests or strangers. It is a must for any tourist. A trend has been created in Nepal, where they have been showing huge hospitality for international tourists but ignoring the domestic tourists.

However, hospitality that you receive in Lamjung is amazing and must be appreciated. The well managed hospitality offered in Lamjung is probably the reason why Ghalegaun of Lamjung is able to gain the title of ‘Model Village in South Asia’. The hospitality presented there is unparallelled. Ghalegaun, Ghanapokhara and Bhujung are three different villages that make you yearn to come back again for the warm hospitality that they offer to any tourist, whether a foreigner or a Nepali. The hospitality that the people of the villages exhibit makes the biggest impact on the visitors. To reach here, one can take a bus till Besisahar from Kathmandu in the morning so that you can reach it by 2 in the afternoon and spend the night at Besisahar. The next day, the trekking can begin through Kapur Basti. No matter how slow you walk, you will reach Ghalegaun by 3 pm.

A view of Bhujung
The villagers greet you so well that at some point one even gets the feeling of belonging to the family of the house where you are lodging. Honesty remains the best part of hospitality. And eating in the kitchen is a wonderful feeling like you do at home with the aroma of the delicacies surrounding you. What more can we expect in the name of hospitality? To get that unique form of hospitality the home stay is doing a wonderful task. The first impression becomes the lasting one. And, it is the hospitality that you get at Ghaegaun that makes the whole trip memorable. That is what is lacking in many places, particularly the urban centres. So making hospitality the driving force can see tourism scale new heights.
