Song Stories in Nepal

This time I am here, not to show or describe a song, but I am writing about Song Stories that are behind, and remains unseen. Surendra Awish Bohara, I have met this guy in Bhaktapur Guest House, at membership orientation program organized by YUWA. It has been more than a year now, but I got to check his video all of sudden.

I had to talk to him. His song ‘Ramailo Cha Zindagi’ indeed is amazing. Trust me, you will love it. At least, you will repeat it, and recognize it as a good song. In this crowd of all sort of songs, it has been tough for listeners like us to differentiate between quality music. The trend is completely upon Bipul Chhetri right now. He indeed is amazing, but if you have time for this song, make sure you listen to this song…The video is amazing as well..

Let me share few hidden stories behind Music Video Making in Nepal as per his experience :

· Costly

Music Video Making indeed is expensive process. Even though the music video maker start making the expectation of around thirty thousand, it costs more than that. Atleast fifty percent more than what has been told must be expected. This video making process was told thirty thousand, and ended up costing almost fifty thousand.

· Struggling stories

We had been listening struggling stories for more than a decade now. The stories stills similar till the date. Despite of modern technologies and equipments used, the stories seems hard to change. The new comer has to struggle, financially, for getting their work done and in various other ways for bringing out their song and music videos.

· Monetary Benefit?

If you are planning to sing a song, make a music video by expecting some monetary benefits behind it, stop the entire process. The invested amount is entire risk. You never know if you fail. So, if you are into peak of success, it is usually through invitation on concerts you are paid. Google makes payment if you have large number of views on Youtube. But, your channel needs to be registered.

Here in this context, it is broadcasted by authorized channel, Songs Nepal. Song Nepal takes three fourth of the payment, and the singer gains one third. So, expecting through views indeed is not a wise step. Is it?

· Model Harassment

I had been hearing these sort of stories for a long time. I thought time has brought change in this age, and no longer should model go through harassment. But, the case has not changed yet. If they want to play in video, usually, they have to go through this phase. This story is for new model who has been new to the industry.

· Biased Medias

This is my point of concern since a long time! Why are medias so much biased? No longer will an individual depend completely on what media broadcasts. Good songs are taken care through social medias too. Medias have been promoting their choice of song, that would be of their friends and relatives, while great songs are always kept under hidden mystery.

And to prove this, check the top ten songs broadcasted by Radio Kantipur, Hits FM, and other FM Stations. Will you find any similarity? The number one song in one media may not be in entire chartbuster played by other media houses.

We don’t have anything like billboards, but good songs are easily identified. Bipul Chhetri’s song managed to get into count down of lot of media houses only after it went so popular in social media.

· Final Note

Since the singer here only followed his passion, he is student of different field. He has decided to support students of Shivapur Secondary School in Doti District at Jorayal, by providing them scholarships.

So, if 1000 views strikes, 25 Rupees will be for the contribution. Apart, he will also be contributing through other earning that he will earn through this song. How about saying this song is dedicated to those students?
