Silver Jubilee Scholarship Scheme

Sep 9, 2016

It’s easy to write a post in the blog than to share every individual. Lot of questions, lot of things to be answered, and lot of confusions are normal once you apply for Indian Embassy’s MBA Scholarship. I am the scholar of 2014-16 batch. I am currently studying in Andhra Pradesh. Here I try to answer some of your common questions. Let me answer few of the common questions. I know there exists large number of questions, but if there are further things I need to clarify, I'll do it later.

How to apply for Indian Embassy MBA Scholarship?
Indian Embassy opens the scholarship form usually at the end of December. It is a long form, that you need to fill up. You need your medical report, references and various other things as asked there. Yes, the main thing is you need to attest them all. And you need to keep it five copies. You better fill up one form, and Xerox other four.
Apart, you need to deposit Rs 400 (as per my time), in Nepal SBI Bank and submit the voucher along with the form.
Note: If you belong to Government Colleges, your colleges can attest your documents. No need to pay for Notary! I did the same!

I am not student of BBA; Can I apply for MBA Scholarship?
MBA is not only for BBA Graduates. It is for everyone. Yes, you can apply for scholarship, no matter which stream you are from. There is nothing wrong in applying. BBS will get the scholarship too. And if you are BA student, you can apply for it too. Ahh, they say, MBA is again best for engineering as well.

I am not getting a call, how long should I wait?
If you have been called for interview, you will never know when you will get a call. I got call for confirmation at March. My friend got call at around October. So,  you never know when you will get one. For 2016-18 batch, they didn't get call for interview because of various political reason, they got appointed directly on the basis of form they submitted! So WAIT!!

They say ICCR and EDCIL, what are they?
ICCR stands for Indian Council for Cultural Relation. It is a body under Foreign Affairs of Indian Government. EDCIL is Education Consultants India Limited that is another body. They are both your sponsors. Now, you may fall into any one. There is nothing so huge to panic under any. Just that, ICCR pays your stipend every month, and EDCIL does that after certain interval (maybe 8 months). ICCR has package of tour twice a year, which you must be lucky to grab into, and pays other payments. EDCIL has been sending to colleges like Symbiosis and Jain, which ICCR seems to be failing. So, it is not so easy to say which one is good and which one is bad. It's easy to get medical reimbursement if you fall sick in case of ICCR.

How is India for studies?
Best thing is you don’t have to pay which your friends are doing in Nepal. Education quality is not bad either. If you start expecting deer’s meat for dinner, and instead you get chicken, you are likely to be dissatisfied.  If you expect a chicken for your dinner, you’ll be happy to get it. So, don’t expect something like Stanford or Harvard, you’ll be happy.

How is it different from Nepal?
Teachers can be good at Nepal. They are not that bad at India. However, you get a different experience of learning there. I have my classmates from more than ten countries. There are students from 40 countries who share same hostel mess. Is not that different experience? Well, you might also end up in college where you and few of your friend will be the only International student, you never know. But, you get to learn from Indian perspective. You get to know how India is moving, what made India forward? And if you are creative, you get to analyze what is now required for Nepal.

They say, ‘It is not good’, why is that?
It’s perception. I study in such mass too. While others are regretting about being to that college, I am happy. By the way, I would believe that it indeed is not good, if they would return back. Staying in India, studying in India, they are saying so. They had the option to return back. Why didn’t they?

What does the scholarship cover?
Your entire college fees.
Your hostel and mess fees.
You get stationary/library expenses if you are from ICCR.
You get stipend, depending upon college. (We used to get INR 3500 monthly, after deducting every amounts)

Is it compulsory to stay in hostel?
This depends upon the college policy. Some does not have hostel at all, and you need to manage your own. For some, hostel is compulsion. However, if you have special cases, you can make request and stay out of hostel. On doing that, you get entire scholarship amount directly at your account. (No Hostel/Mess fees will be charged)

“LUCK”, does this matter?
To large extent Yes! You may be with greatest mark, but other fellow with lower marks may be sent to college that happens to be better than yours! So, yes indeed! Luck Matters!

I respect, if you criticize me and my experience. But, this is what I can suggest to anyone. You can also consult others who have been through this scholarship once, and know their views as well. But this is all I have got to say. Perception is dependent upon several factors like expectations, knowledge, experience, learning, attitudes.

Are you applying too?
BEST WISHES!!
