Celebrity Life: Misery Over Charm

Feb 9, 2018
Image result for famousSaroj Khanal flew back to United States. That was an issue here. Dawa Lama, the popular star from Meri Bassai is now driving bus from Besisahar to Ghalegaun; and that never caught any attention. If he had gone abroad, that would rather create a fuss throughout.
Priyanka Karki returned back from abroad, and rather worked further on her career. Girish Khatiwada returned back, and is still in the industry. But, what about Bipana Thapa? What about Sudhin Pokharel? Nawaz Ansari? Will someone even worry about them returning back?
Not everything can be compared - Anmol KC might be earning high; but there are celebs who have to seek alternatives to live their life too. So, once a celebrity, that does not ensure life long livablity - does it? Does our nation even treat them as an ornament? Private firms do award Life Time Achievement Award, but Acharya movie describes Bhakta Raj Acharya's entire story.
Image result for celebrity lifeWe have been hearing the story of Devkota, who used to sell his write ups back then, which explains how celebrities have been living since past itself. Nothing has been changed. What people expect is the latest version of iPhone with them, fancy cars; but the reality then gets different.
Unlike abroad, where artists are taken as property of nation; we live in country, where the life of any celebrity itself is in trouble. Be it Kamal Khatri, or Najeer - they had to come up with struggle in the industry. And, when these professions of music or media or movie are not seen as an industry in our country, it must be admitted that what ever comes out are all consequence of passion and interest towards the field more than commitment.
Sunil Pokharel's contribution to new movie taste, and theatre has not yet been recognized by the nation, far lies the question of promotion. Doors of Gurukul, which had to shut down years back never opened, and probably will not be opened too. Thanks to others - Mandala, Shilpee or Sarwanaam, who geared up and ensured sustainability. Bangladesh Government's contribution towards theatre shows there was never studied by concerned authorities here. So, we still have Information Ministry, who rather demotivates new revolutionaries like Manoj Pandit, rather than motivating. Within all these, we then seek for quality.

Dawa Lama, who was found riding public bus, when asked, if he was the actual star, he hesitated to show that he was the one. He tried to escape the question; unless other people around told the reality. Is that what was supposed to be? Should these stars be shameful of their identity? Should not Film Association of Nepal address these issues?
The only reason why celebrities survive today is because of the love of audiences. Audiences pay high amount of ticket to see them. They are ready to pay the amount, which they earn through hard work in hot summer of Gulf nations simply to attend their shows - giving life to these celebrities. Nepal Idol's charm is all silent now, and after a year, barely will anyone try to find out where Suraj Thapa is.
Government should give reason to call back Saroj Khanal. They need to be ensured that there are spaces available for them. Or else, why should Sudhin Pokharel return? So, while Sudhin Pokharel was ill, who cared? While Amrit Gurung was sick, who cared? Shouldn't they be motivated? Or else, who would want to spend their life, keep it under risk for these issues? Why should someone sacrifice their life for arts if they have to struggle for two time meal?
When Government can decide about senior citizen's provision from early 65 years itself, why cant they address our pride? Our celebrities? This 25 year old Nawaz Ansari will never return back, if he doesn't see opportunity here. Rather he will continue his passion there; get adopted there – and we will have nothing except to regret!

Timely concern should be taken for promotion of movies, music and art ensuring these artists sustainability and future.
