Nepali Movie industry might not be strong enough to come up
with Sci-Fi movies; as it lacks all the heavy technologies required in it; and
secondly, the chances of making it commercially hit would be significantly low.
Again; the story line has to be strong enough, which we are not matured up
with.
Nepali Movie Industry has never tried up with Adventure based movies as
well like Pirates of Caribbean or King Kong.
Despite of having our own
identification of Rhinos, which could be the character, lack of resources has
always bonded Nepalese film industry in experimenting Adventure Genre of
Movies. We do have the kind of combination of Cast Away and Into the Wild Movie
- Apabad; but the real adventure has been behind the scene though we have such
a wonderful spaces to highlight. Animation had been way behind in Nepalese
scene too. We had always been translating cartoons - be that Mina, decade back;
Moomin decade back; or Motu Patlu on recent days. After all, we do lack our own
Cartoon Industry to share our own stories.
However, leaving these genre of movies; Nepalese Movies
Industry has at least been around every other taste. When it comes to Action
Movies; Nepal grew up with that. Starting from Mission Paisa to other Nikhil
Upreti based movies satisfies the criteria of being into Action Movies. When it
came down to Biography based movies; we must be thankful to Acharya Brothers
who at least attempted to make a movie based on their father's life. Bhakta Raj
Acharya's real life can be traced out from Acharya Movie. We always had
impressive persons in our life - be that Laxmi Prasad Devkota, or previous
Kings. We had Seto Bagh, Basanti; which actually failed in presentation to
prove the strength of story. When it comes to Comedy genre; team who were
limited to TV Screen came up with wonderful attempt. Be that through attempt of
Cha Ekan Cha to Chakka Panja 2; this team took up the pace and initiated new
line. We had movies like Ta Ta Sarai Bigris Ni Badri back then; but the team
later up gave a new contribution to movie - which has to be admired.
Crime based movie began from Loot itself; but since then
these genre of movie could not gain huge market. We had wonderful attempts in
Loot 2, or Jhola, or Sadanga where dark movie was attempted; but the team got diversion
time and again; and as a result dark movie could not gain sustainability.
Mystry has been part in every movie, and that should be the reason why this
genre of movie had not been entertained pretty much in Nepal. Drama based movie
had always been attempted by theater team; but they always ended up in
commercial movies. As a result, these movies barely carried out commercial
success. Purano Dunga, Kagbeni, Sanghuro had been wonderful attempt in our
movie industry. We had real life stories based movies like Mokshya, which could
not gain the equal hype again. Social concern movies like Soongava, or Shree
Panch Ambare should have been critically acclaimed successful movie; but
concern of audiences got diverted from it as well. Gajalu beautifully captured
Kumari's concern in the movie at same time. Nepalese Movie Industry and
Bollywood never required musical movies like La La Land; as there are songs and
music in each and every movies thereby.
Horror movies probably are not that horrified enough; but
still, the attempts has to be appreciated. Be that Ek Din Ek Raat, of 2011, or
recent Sunkesari; the diversified streamline has to be appreciated. It may not
meet Bollywood or Hollywood standard; but everything has to begin; and we have
at least started. What was appreciated in Nepal was those history based movies
- be that Uma or Khagras; there had been wonderful attempt. Evergreen
successful was always love movie, romantic movie - which Nepal finally started
gaining it's own hype. Anmol KC, Aryan Sigdel or even Paul Shah based movies
these days are at least successful to capture Nepalese audience's focus. Since
the very beginning - be it Kusume Rumal, or the new ones like Prem Geet - this genre
had always been successfully. We do have critically acclaimed movies - Pashupati
Prasad in the mean time. Apart, there are various short movies within Nepal.
The growth of Nepali Movie industry can be traced out from these
wide ranges of genres that we are having. Youngsters within Nepal and Diasporas
abroad; they have been attracted towards the movies; and the widening genre
indeed is a huge potential in the entire industry. How long would someone love
Pizzas and Burgers? They do have inner thirst of their own local movies - and
that itself is a huge opportunity for film makers.
